Pilot Plant Design, Construction, and Operation

Coming Fall 2025

20 hours

This course focuses on broader issues of interest to pilot plant project managers, supervisors, designers and operators, as they design, build and operate pilot plants. It is suitable for all levels from inexperienced to very experienced. Designed for those in the chemical, petrochemical, and specialty chemical industries.

During this course, you will:

  • Learn how to properly define a pilot plant program in order to save space, time, and money
  • Address cost and scheduling factors, design options, space requirements, maintenance, control system selection, and start-up planning
  • Identify the key issues facing a new pilot plant
  • Estimate the cost and schedule of a pilot plant from design to construction to daily operation, while reducing often overlooked factors
  • Examine different design approaches and safe start-up sequences
  • Determine how to reduce the costs involved in developing and running a pilot plant, while ensuring safety and efficiency
