Hazard Identification (HAZID) in Pilot Plants and Laboratories: What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You

This extended course focuses on how to identify hazards so that research personnel can more effectively plan to avoid incidents and accidents. It is intended for both new personnel to acquaint them with the issues and best practices and for experienced personnel to identify problem practices and issues.



During this course, you will: 

  • Learn how to identify and examine potential hazards within your industrial, research, or academic laboratories
  • Review flammability basics, hazardous equipment, and hazardous operating conditions
  • Determine which hazards need to be analyzed and risk assessed
  • Identify hazards when working with pipes, hoses, and ventilated enclosures, and when operating in over-pressure or over-temperature situations
  • Address what to do when spills and leaks do occur
